Well, the first week is in the books. A few snags here and there, like every year, but we've started strong!
But will we finish strong! Often I get to Christmas and think., "I just can't do this any more!" I've had to schedule Christmas break to last a whole month, just to give me a chance to breathe, and chance to renew my mind. Then I'm ready to begin again.
Matthew 11:28 says "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
I know it seems silly to be talking about rest now, at the beginning of the school year, but I wonder if we build in rest now, and not wait until we are "weary," if we will be able to end the year as strong as we started it? If we "come to" Him daily, we will receive His rest daily.
I am willing - how about you?

New School Year
A new school year is getting ready to start...are you ready?
Most of us know this scripture:
"Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he is old he will not depart from it." Prov 22:6
Or this one:
"And these words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up." Deut 6:6-7
These are great verses to use as a guide during our homeschooling years. But as we think about teaching our children, are we teachable? The Psalmist wrote,
"Make me know Thy ways, O Lord;
Teach me Thy paths." Ps 25:3
"Teach me Thy way, O Lord,
And lead me in a level path,
Because of my foes." Ps 27:11
"Teach me to do Thy will,
For Thou art my God;
Let Thy good Spirit lead me on level ground." Ps 143:10
As you prepare for this school year, make sure you take time out to meet with the Lord. Spend time in His Word. Take time to talk to Him. Ask Him for guidance in the teaching of your children. Ask Him to teach you, and be ready to learn.
